ASEAN chair’s statement special ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ meeting on the current situation between Cambodia and Thailand
On 22 December 2025, the ASEAN Foreign Ministers issued a statement urging Cambodia and Thailand to exercise maximum restraint, take immediate steps to cease all forms of hostilities, and return to dialogue through bilateral mechanisms and the good offices of the ASEAN Chair to pursue a peaceful and durable resolution.
The statement further emphasized the need for military de-escalation along the shared border under the observation of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) and welcomed the upcoming General Border Committee (GBC) meeting on 24 December 2025, to discuss the implementation and verification of a ceasefire.
