MFAIC statement: Cambodia reaffirms its determination to combat all forms of transnational crimes
On 23 October 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) issued a statement reaffirming its strong commitment to fighting all forms of transnational crimes, particularly online scams and human trafficking. The government has intensified nationwide efforts, which led to the closure of illegal compounds and the rescue of victims who are often themselves subjected to trafficking and coercion. Key actions include strengthening cybercrime laws, revoking business licenses, and establishing a future national cybercrime task force.
Cambodia is strengthening international cooperation with partners like the Republic of Korea, China, and ASEAN member states. Following tragic incidents involving Korean nationals, a high-level meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment to addressing these crimes bilaterally, based on mutual respect and trust.
Cambodia emphasizes that “Criminals exploit technology and borders; our response must be equally connected and coordinated.” Through cooperation—not blame—the Kingdom of Cambodia will continue to pursue kingpins, protect victims, and preserve peace, order, and dignity for all.
