Cambodia Needs To Develop Qualified Tourism Skills, Private Sector Said
Mr. Luu Meng, president of hotel association in Cambodia said this week that Cambodia needs to develop tourism skills to compete with other countries in the ASEAN region as the kingdom has more opportunity to attract foreign visitors. “Our skills of hospitality are limited in the country,” Luu Meng noted. He adds: Cambodia needs foreign direct investor (FDI) in the tourism sector and the private sector believes that this will not happen without open sky policy. The private sector observes a decrease of international arrival while an increase in regional tourists to Cambodia, particularly from Lao and Vietnam. Base on the year 2009 statistics from tourism, tourists traveling by air falls 10.9 per cent and 7.6 per cent in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap respectively. …in order to move forward, the private sector will continue supporting CAA as the national airline but believe that the government should allow other airlines to have opportunity to fly to Cambodia. …
