Families Face Re-Eviction, Submit City Hall Petition
Representatives of 19 families facing the eviction from their homes in Phnom Penh’s Pur Senchey district submitted a petition to City Hall yesterday, demanding land as compensation.
The families claim that the eviction is doubly bitter because they had been relocated to Andong 3 Village, Kouk Roka commune, after being evicted from Chamkar Mon district’s Tonle Bassac commune in 2002. …
A letter to the families signed by Khit Sopha, Pur Senchey district’s administration chief, said their land was needed for a development project funded partly by a nonprofit organization called People for Care and Learning.
