Garment Workers Go to Court Against Manager
Worker from the Ocean Garment factory in Phnom Penh’s Pur Senchey district said they will file a complaint with the Phnom Penh Municipal Court today accusing a manager at the factory of sexual harassment, violence and verbally abusing female workers, union officials and garment workers said yesterday. The manager, Faruk Ahmed, 38, vehemently denied the allegations against him yesterday. “I don’t directly talk to the workers. I only talk to my section chiefs. They don’t have any evidence. We told them if they have any evidence to show us,” said Mr. Ahmad, who is from Bangladesh.
