Opposition party wants equal committee posts in parliament: Sar Kheng

Acting Prime Minister Sar Kheng on Wednesday said that opposition leader Sam Rainsy, now doesn’t want the parliament chairmanship chair post, but equal committee posts within the parliament. Speaking to reporters after delivering certificates to 3,000 police officers, he said Sam Rainsy phoned him and told him before leaving Cambodia he no longer wants the chairmanship post for the sake of the country. Sam Rainsy now wants equal posts between the Cambodia National Rescue Party and Cambodian People’s Party in the Permanent Committee of the National Assembly, which contains 12 components, Sar Kheng said. Sar Kheng, however, said the Cambodian People’s Party does not agree with this request because the Permanent Committee of the National Assembly still can continue this session, however any other sessions there after can start with a vote of 50 percent plus one. …
