Reported Cases of Land Grabbing Decrease
The number of new land disputes reported in the first six months of this year decreased by 38 percent compared to the same period in 2011, according to data released by rights group Licadho last week. According to the figures, which represent 15 of the country’s 24 cities and provinces, there were 29 reported cases this year, affecting 3,334 families, in which local authorities required people to relocate so that private companies could use the land.
