Olympic Organizing Committee to Investigate Cambodian Factory

The London Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (Locog) plans to investigate allegations that a Cambodian factory producing Olympic merchandise for Adidas is not paying workers a sustainable living wage, a spokesman for Locog said yesterday. The investigation is a response to an article published Saturday by British newspaper The Daily Mail, which claimed Adidas is in violation of an agreement with Locog because workers of its supplier factory in Phnom Penh’s Meanchey district are not being paid a sustainable living wage to produce Olympic merchandise. “We will be investigating this. We’re looking into allegations that have been made by the journalists of [The Daily Mail] article,” said Lloyd Evans, a Locog press officer. “We take these things very seriously.”...
