On 28 October 2027, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) issued a press release on the outcomes of the summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The summits on 27 October 2025 advanced several key regional priorities.
Leaders at the 26th ASEAN-ROK Summit affirmed their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and strengthened cooperation on the digital economy, including through a new Digital Academy in Cambodia. Across multiple forums, including the 28th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit, leaders emphasized the need for an open, rules-based multilateral trading system and greater regional cooperation to combat transnational crimes and cybercrimes. The 5th RCEP Leaders’ Summit committed to the full implementation of the trade pact, with plans to make the agreement more modern by 2027 by incorporating the green and digital economies. Finally, at the 20th East Asia Summit (EAS), Cambodia highlighted the recent Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration with Thailand as a powerful testament to resolving complex disputes through mutual respect and diplomacy.
