Campu and Acleda Post Strong Earnings for First Six Months

Despite being downgraded by Moody’s just over two months ago, profits at Cambodian Public Bank (Campu) and Acleda Bank—two of the largest banks in the country—increased by about 50 percent during the first half of the year, according to figures provided by the banks yesterday. In an unaudited financial statement issued yesterday by Acleda, profits reached $31.58 million through the first two quarters, a 45.4 percent increase compared to the same period in 2011, as deposits grew 74.29 percent to reach $1.75 billion. Campu Bank shared similar success through the first six months, posting profits before tax of $20.71 million, an increase of 50.83 percent compared to the same period last year. ...
