China Looks to Increase Media Presence

The Chinese Information Minister met Deputy Prime Minister Sok An on Sunday to discuss introducing more of a Chinese perspective to the media in Cambodia. The two men also agreed to send a delegation from the Council of Ministers Press and Quick Reaction Unit (PQRU) to visit the Chinese state information office later this year. Mr. Sok An told Wang Chen, China's Minister of the State Council Information Office (SCIO), which controls the country's internet and flow of external news, that he had instructed the PQRU to gather more Chinese news in the future, state news agency Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) reported yesterday. The PQRU collects news reports for Prime Minister Hun Sen to read. ...
