Fire Destroys 32 Homes In Russei Keo District
Two people received burns when a large fire gutted 32 houses in Russei Keo district's Kilometer Nine commune on Friday, police said. The fire broke out at 11 a.m. in a village of wooden houses at the rear of the Cambodian Television Network station, said municipal fire chief Neth Vantha. Firetrucks that responded to the blaze had first to battle their way to the village, said Mr. Vatha, who complained that the settlement had no proper access. ... Residents believe that a gas cylinder may have caused the fire, Ms. Kimtha [a resident of the village] said, adding that smaller fire had broken out a few days previous in the village because of a faulty cooking gas cylinder.
