Six Arrested For Crossing Laos Border

Six Cambodians, including a police officer, were arrested in Laos last week after crossing into the country illegally from bordering Stung Treng province, according to a military official. The group, which also included two women, had been foraging for plants and fishing in the jungle near the border when Lao soldiers arrested them, according to Lieutenant Colonel My Bunporn, who is the commander of Cambodian soldiers based at the Cambodia-Laos border. One of the men, Sa Moenpon, 39, was a Sekong commune police officer, according to Lt. Col. Bunporn, who named the others as Nou Sela, 34; Ly Deng, 36; Phan Chandy, 27; Thong Nhor, 22, and Loeung Pon, 42.
