Sub-Decree Regulating Public Service Is Passed

The Council of Ministers on Friday approved a sub-decree designed to regulate the performance of the government’s administration by chastising institutions that fail to properly carry out their work in delivering public services. Though the legislation does not carry any punishment for officials that fail in their jobs, a new committee [the national public service evaluation committee] will be tasked with monitoring administrative bodies responsible for public services and sending them warning letters if they do not meet the correct standard. … Citizens and businesses alike have long complained of high levels of graft at all levels of the government’s administration. In an effort to help companies avoid making informal payments made illegal by the Anti-Corruption Law, the government has publicly issued lists showing the costs of fees that businesses must pay to authorities for a host of services. …
