The Council of  Ministers on Friday approved a sub-decree requiring tour guides to obtain licenses from the government in an effort to regulate and improve quality of service in the tourism sector. The sub-decree aims “to define the procedure to manage tourist guides,”and requires current and aspiring guides to complete training courses on tourism in order to obtain or renew two-year licenses, according to the copy of the document…Ten Ratana, director of the ministry’s education and training department, said that under the sub-decree, anyone who wants to register to be a tour guide must have at least a high school diploma to apply for the ministry’s three-month tourism training program.
