Nine Companies Barred From State Projects for Not Paying Tax

The Ministry of Finanace in August barred nine local companies from working on government infrastructure projects for allegedly failing to pay tax owed on several projects funded by foreign money, government and company officials said yesterday. The move by Finance Minister Keat Chhon to freeze foreign funding of their projects and bar the companies from bidding for future government projects was based on a request by the director general of the General Department of Taxation, who on Aug 11 sent a letter informing Mr Chhon that nine construction companies had repeatedly failed to pay tax. The nine companies named in the letter are KBH Construction, UMV Development, Ngin Yanna Construction, Ung Kim Toi Construction, Seak Chhiv Leng Enterprise, Ung Kim Heng Construction, Liv Construction, Kim Mich Constriction Group and Taing Cheng Ong Construction.
