PM: the water festival is on again
The annual boat races in Phnom Penh, marking the Water Festival celebrations, will take place between November 13 and 15 even if water levels in the Tonle Sap are low, Prime Minister Hun Sen announced yesterday. Speaking at a university graduation ceremony in Phnom Penh, the prime minister stressed that water levels in the Tonle Sap were looking more promising than last year, which had caused the celebrations to be canceled, but even if levels were low this year, the racing would still go ahead. “No matter what happens this year, the Water Festival must be celebrated, even if the water in the river is only two meters.” ...
