On 15 September 2023, the General Department of Identification issued an announcement on information related to the arrest of foreigners who committed crimes in Singapore in connection with money laundering on their official website.
According to the announcement, Granting Cambodia nationality is in accordance with the law on citizenship in Cambodia and has undergone careful examination and proper assessment in accordance with the procedures and principles of the law in force and a history of crime. Any Foreigners who have already obtained Cambodian citizenship and have committed crimes, whether in the country or abroad, are responsible for themselves before the laws of each country.
