Announcement on the launch of the equipment identity registration system (EIRS)
On 01 July 2026, Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) issued an announcement on the launch of the equipment identity registration system (EIRS).
To help reduce and prevent the illegal import of mobile phones or SIM-enabled telecommunications equipment (“SIM equipment”), to protect the interests and safety of consumers, to enhance the quality of telecommunications services, to promote fair competition, and to identify mobile phones or SIM-enabled devices, MPT will launch the equipment identity registration system (EIRS) from 01 July 2026 onwards.
