On 07 April 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued a press release on Japan to extend loan for irrigation and drainage project in the southwest Phnom Penh region.

His Excellency PRAK Sokhonn and His Excellency UENO Atsushi will sign the Exchange of Notes and accompanying documents on the extension of a Yen Loan up to the amount of JPY 2,482,000,000 (approximately USD 18,240,000).
