Statement on the 26th international migrants day “promoting safety, decent work and social assistance to migrant workers”
On 18 December 2025, the Center for Alliance of Labor and Human Rights (CENTRAL) issued a statement celebrating the 26th International Migrants Day and presenting findings from a recent survey on the economic pressures facing returned Cambodian migrant workers.
The impact assessment revealed that 71% of returnees are in debt, with 85% of them unable to keep up with repayments. The statement highlighted workers’ urgent calls for stable and decent employment, a minimum 6-month suspension of loan repayments, and expanded access to social protection systems, including the NSSF and IDPoor, to support their safe reintegration.
