Ad Revenues Slow, Telecoms Scale Back

Revenues generated in the advertising sector through the first seven months of the year reached $68.7 million, an increase of 6.84 percent compared to the same period last year, according to data released yesterday by Indochina Research. Although the industry has continued to grow in terms of revenues, the figure represents a slowdown from 2010 and 2011, when growth margins were 24 percent and 37 percent year-on-year respectively. According to the data, the largest drop-off came from struggling telecommunications firms that have scaled back on advertising a total 24.89 percent to $6.24 million compared to the first seven months of 2011. …
