UN praises Cambodia ‘success’ in addressing child labor in fisheries

Two UN agencies praised Cambodia’s Fisheries Administration Thursday as an “example of success” for addressing child labour in fisheries. In a joint report, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the International Labour Organization recalled that the fisheries agency began raising awareness of child labour issues in October of 2011. … The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries subsequently endorsed a National Plan of Action on Eliminating Child Labor in the Fisheries Sector of Cambodia. … The statement added that child labor concerns had also been incorporated in the Cambodia Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries (CAMCODE).
