Press release on the source identification of the first COVID-19 community transmission on 28 November

On 03 December 2020, the Ministry of Health issued a notice to the public that according to the information received by 11:45 pm, on 02 December 2020 and the scientific laboratory study of the Institut Pasteur Du Cambodge on COVID-19 virus community transmission in Cambodia on 28 November may be a preliminary conclusion as follows:

  1. Cambodia’s first community transmission, could be a group of Clad 19B viruses, originated from somewhere in Asia, Africa or Australia; and trafficked to Cambodia during October 2020.
  2.  The virus revealed that sequencing COVID-19 virus samples from different areas on revealed that there is no connection with the events of 03 November.

The Ministry also calls on the public to remain vigilant and take appropriate measures to protect themselves, no large gatherings and do not to go out if not necessary.
