Press release on the strengthening customer protection of the National Bank of Cambodia

On 18 August 2017, the National Bank of Cambodia issued a press release to strengthen customer protection as follows:

  1. Fines 400 million Riel (US $ 100,000) to microfinance institutions (MFIs) that do not comply with the laws and regulations, especially the Prakas on transparency in the provision of credit and banking services.
  1. Creates four hotlines, including 085 600 002, 085 600 003, 098 220 001, and 098 220 002 to get information from customers who have problems with banks and finance institutions.
  1. Continues to strengthen site monitoring of banks and financial institutions under the supervision of the National Bank of Cambodia.
