Cargo shipments at Cambodia’s two largest ports see remarkable rise in 11 months
The Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, Cambodia’s largest shipping facility, on Tuesday reported a 12 percent rise in cargo shipments in the first eleven months of 2013. The state-owned sea port had received 2.73 million tonnes of goods during the January-November period this year, up from 2.43 million tonnes over the same period last year, showed the port’s figures. … Meanwhile, the Phnom Penh Autonomous Port, the kingdom’s 2nd largest port, also recorded a 17 percent surge in cargo shipments during the first eleven months of the year. About 100,840 twenty-foot-equivalent units, or TEUs (standard- sized containers), passed through the port in the year up to the end of November, compared with 86,340 TEUs over the same period last year, the port’s report said. …
