Laos Urges Cambodian Businesspeople to Invest More

President of Laos National Assembly, Her Excellency Pany Yathotou, on September 1st arrived here for the four-day official visit in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the neighboring countries… “Both sides will exchange visits of the officials and lawmakers of National Assemblies to strengthen bonds and upgrade the human resources for the two legislatures,” Samdech Heng Samrin [President of Cambodia’s National Assembly] said, adding that both sides also boost the development of the triangle area to help improve the living conditions for people living along the border. “Both countries vowed to finish planting the border markers soon while 80 per cent of the border demarcation has already been completed.” While holding talks with Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, H.E. Yathotou asked Samdech Hun Sen to urge the Cambodian businesspeople to invest further in Laos because currently Cambodia invested only US$ 10 million this fiscal year. “Both countries are committed to building a peaceful border and utilizing development ideas for the prosperity of the two peoples,” Mr. Eang Sophallet, Assistant to Samdech PM Hun Sen said after the meeting. “Samdech PM Hun Sen will urge the local traders and investors to make more business in Laos,” Eang added.
