CAMBODIA HOSTED 7TH ASIA ECONOMIC FORUM

Cambodia, on Saturday, hosted the 7th Asia Economic Forum ( AEF) under theme of “The Asian Century in the Making: Achievements, Challenges and Future Trends” while highlighting the majority of the region’s demonstrated remarkable resilience against the global economic and financial crises, while major superpowers including the United States and much of Europe- continue to claw out of debt. Smaller Asian economies are bouncing back to positive territories with signs of rapid recovery and progress. The experts in the forum said: the strategic alliances have been built across the region with powerful Asian economies collaborating to strengthen geographic leverages. “It is clear that Asia is influencing the pace and direction of the world,” they stress. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the forum in Phnom Penh, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Keat Chhon, Minister of Economy and Finance, high representative of Samdech Prime Minister Hun Sen said and touched on “ the Asian Century in The Making : Role of Asean” that: The ASEAN has the potential to integrate into the Asian region so as to the world as the ASEAN region now has a population of more than 600 million with a combined gross domestic product (GDP) of around US$1.7 trillion marked by high growth and political stability, a growing middle income population, endowed by enormous natural resources.
